The myth of working on your weaknesses and leaning on your strength

If you’re playing a sport and you’re not tall enough, spending all your time trying to grow an extra 5 inches will make you spend the rest of your life thinking you’re stupid.

Processing and understanding your strengths and weaknesses is coming to terms with the fact that there are some things that you will be good at, and working on them is a waste of time. You will get much more return on investment if you make yourself better at the talent that you have.

Tip: Identify your skillset and find your strength in what you’re good at by leveraging that to be good in your position.

How To Leverage Your Skills In Your Business

You can have incredibly successful entrepreneurs that still don’t understand what they don’t do, even when they do it very well.

Your talent dictates how you show up, not just in life but also in business, and the clear you can get on what you are good at, the better you can be at what you do.

The sooner you accept that you don’t have to be good at everything, the sooner you can be more effective at everything you do. Being honest about where you are and shifting your perspective to understand what you do will bring more clarity and help you see what you’re good at.

Most of us, as entrepreneurs, believe that we must be good at everything to succeed, which is a big misconception. It’s essential to identify your talent and what you’re good at, and the moment you begin to vocalize it, you start to operate in your genius and stop trying to be more than what you need to be.

Tip. The sooner you can understand what you actually do, the sooner you can understand how to leverage what you do more efficiently.

Entrepreneurship Vs. Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship Vs. Entrepreneurship deals with your ability to accept risk.  So many of us think we are risk-takers until we have to take our mortgage out for the business we want or suffer through a month when not making what we want from our business.

An entrepreneur is a person who likes to influence others to get a task done and to impact the direction they are moving. They also like relationships, but they want people to like them. That is all mindset, and it falls into four domains that influence the success of your talent: influence, relationship, execution, and strategic thinking.

Talent doesn’t mean you’re good at everything. If you’re using your skill in the wrong situation, you’re not going to be good in that situation. Learning how to leverage talent in proper situations is vital, and it takes time. It’s a lifetime of developing your talents to leverage them as strengths.

The Difference Between A Talent And A Skill

Our talent and skills are often aligned. A skill is an ability that is acquired through learning. It’s something that takes time and effort to learn and practice. On the other hand, a talent is a natural disposition that needs less energy and effort to develop compared to a skill.

Talent brings you joy. When you feel like you’re talented and good at something, you will enjoy doing it naturally. Your talent drives your value, and when you don’t honor your talent, you devalue who you’re as a person.

Talent devaluation sometimes comes from our culture, which labels some talents as undesirable. That makes us to stop showing up in the most natural state of being because we learn how to devalue our talents, label them as undesirable and avoid them. This doesn’t do anyone justice. It leaves us unfulfilled.

However, when we show up in the four domains, influence, relationship, execution, and strategic thinking, we are able to show up in our natural state of being.

The Purpose of Skill Finder For Entrepreneurs

As an entrepreneur, you’ve to make decisions in your business and figure out whether you’re okay with where you’re and what you've got. If you are happy with your current position, continue with what you are doing.

However, if you’re like most of us, you started your business with a big vision, depending on your starting point. Understanding what you are good at and knowing how to take your business from point A to B is what makes an impact. So if you are struggling to get where you want to be, you’ve to be honest with where you are and what you want to get ahead.

On the other, if you know what you need to do to get ahead but can’t figure out why you’re not doing it, that is where the skill or the talent finder comes in. Skill finder will help you identify your talent, how to show up in situations, and the kind of person you should partner with.

Tip: As a leader, you should be aware of the talents around you and communicate in a language that resonates with them. It might not be your natural disposition, but you do it because you care.

Talent Entrepreneurship in Solo Entrepreneurship

The biggest thing about talent entrepreneurship in solo entrepreneurship is learning who you are and how you show up. There is a lot of people and assessment out there who will tell you how to show up, and the hard work is accepting it.

The problem for most of us is not that we don’t know what we’re good at. It’s that we’re not willing to accept it because we think we need to be good at everything. Accepting who you are and that you are good at some things and not good at others and being okay with that will make everything else easier.
